I have never seen a dragonfly eat another bug. This was a treat to see and get a picture of.

Wow, you were right, this is a good pic. =) I like the small focal length, it really brings your attention to the dragonfly.

Damn, you weren't kidding. That's one hell of a photo. I like the short depth of field too, of course with bright colors like that, it stands out already.

So how big was that thing? Looks big enough to pick up a volkswagen. ;)

I was very close on that shot. I was extremely lucky that he landed their and I took my time and inched the camera towards him looking at the LCD. I wish I could have gotten 50% more closer.

thanks man. Dragonflys do make good models. one of the few insects that you can predict them landing somwhere ;)

Without a doubt one of the best insect macros I've seen in a long time. The detail of the dragonfly's wings is beautiful, you can really see the alienness and symmetry of their design. It's bizarre how it looks like an organic helicopter. I also like the angle of the ant, seems like you got the shot at the perfect moment.

The DOF is also incredible, great work with the aperture. I'm genuinely impressed and glad I came across this.
